Frederick Santos Padilla, better known as "Viejo" or "Tata", of Holbrook, Navajo County, Arizona passed away unexpectedly, January 5, 2013 at his home in Holbrook. He was 75. Fred was born to the late Valentine and Carlotta (Sandoval) Padilla in Holbrook, Arizona on November 1, 1937. Fred was an excellent mechanic who loved to work on cars. In his younger years he worked for the Holbrook Tribune delivering papers on his bike, a job he really enjoyed. Very outgoing, he loved to talk to people. He enjoyed hanging out at the local gas stations where he would visit with people. Many will remember him, drinking his coffee, at the Hilltop Café where he met and made many of his trucker friends. A very kind, loving and patient man, he would help anyone out any way he could. His family was his pride and joy, especially his granddaughter, Faith. Fred will be missed by all whom had the privilege to call him friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona "Mona" Padilla of Holbrook, Arizona; daughter, Mona Lisa Padilla of Holbrook; granddaughter, Faith Padilla of Holbrook; sisters, Juanita Tostado of Holbrook and Carla Brooks of Phoenix, Arizona as well as a brother, Valentine Padilla also of Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Armando Padilla. A memorial mass will be held 10:00AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona, Holbrook, Arizona. Interment will be in the Holbrook Cemetery in Holbrook.
