Robert (Bob) E. Cheney Sr. at age 83 went to spend his first Christmas in heaven on Wednesday December 12, 2012. Bob was born in Wainwright, Missouri on October 12, 1929 to George and Elfie Cheney. As a child, he and his family lived in several states before moving to Holbrook, Arizona in 1946. Uncle Sam called him to duty in 1950 serving in the U.S. Army as a Cpl. in Korea then, in 1974, he joined the Army National Guard as Sgt. Cheney. He married his soul mate, Rachel in 1953. And together they had 7 beautiful children. He was a member of the American Legion Post 37 where he served as a past commander and Color Guard, VFW and Elks. He retired in 1989 from the State of Arizona Department of Transportation and the Army National Guard (he loved his country and the military). He loved to fish, hunt, camp, baseball, play pool and lots of casino time.He will be greatly missed by all. His survivors include his companion Rachel; 3 daughters: Rosalie Fischer (Don) of Holbrook, Arizona, Victoria Salmons of Fulton, Missouri, Nancy Canada (Wil) of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 sons: Robert E. Cheney Jr. and David Cheney of Holbrook, Arizona and Tim Cheney of Mesa, Arizona; brother, Harold Cheney of Tennessee along with 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elfie Cheney, son Richard Cheney, 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Graveside services will be held on Friday December 28th, 2012 at 11:00 A.M at the Holbrook Cemetery.
