Thomas Preston White

May 7, 1929 — November 27, 2012

Thomas Preston White died late Tuesday night, November 27, 2012 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona from complications incident to his age. He was 83 years old. Thomas, affectionately known as Doc White, was born in Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona and lived several years out of state. He moved back to his native Arizona 25 years ago and had many friends in the White Mountain communities. Doc White was a beloved member of the White Mountain Equine Community and was a respected veterinarian to many within the area. He loved horses and everything about them. He knew well the rodeo circuits, as he had rodeoed his entire life. Some might say "He was a true rodeo nut!" He attended the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada every year and always looked forward to renewing is acquaintances there. Doc White learned the value of a dollar at a very young age and worked hard his whole life. Right up until he died, he lived the motto of "Working by the sweat of his brow." He somehow "willed" himself to do things that seemed impossible. Doc White taught others how to live life well by example; especially his children and granddaughters. He was a courageous man and never cowed down to anything and, to his family, he was the epitome of what a hero is. Doc White was a valued member of his community and everyone looked up to him and his standards. He may have had a rough and tough exterior to those outside of his family but, his wife and children knew his heart. He was a great dad and loving husband who had a very gentle spirit within him. Always willing to share in a good joke, Doc White kept his wit about him until the very end. This amazing cowboy will be missed by many whom have had the privilege to call him "friend" but, none will miss him more than those members of his own family. Doc White is survived by his wife, Karen (Warnock) White of Show Low, Arizona; 2 sons: Daniel White of San Jose, California, Larry White of Phoenix, Arizona; 1 daughter, Jessica Stewart of Show Low, Arizona and 4 granddaughters. Along with his parents, Doc White was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy. Doc White's family is appreciative to everyone whom has had them in their thoughts during this difficult season and is especially grateful for all the prayers offered up in their behalf. May each of you be blessed for your kindness and sympathy.
