Emily H. Greene

October 30, 1930 — November 27, 2012

Just 2 days shy of her 60th wedding anniversary, Emily H. Greene went on to be with her Elder Brother, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday morning, November 27, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona when she went on to live in her Father's Kingdom. She was 82 years old. Emily was born on October 30, 1930 in Sonora, Pinal County, Arizona to her parents, the late Luis and Guadalupe (Huerta) Larini and has lived her entire life in the State of Arizona. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life and enjoyed singing in the church choir and serving as a lector in the church for 22 years. In 1951, while living in Phoenix, Emily was crowned the Cinco de Mayo Queen and was able to travel to Mexico City; an accomplishment of which she and her family were very proud. She enjoyed visiting Mexico and seeing places where her ancestors had walked. When she and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, they were privileged to have a Papal Blessing by Pope John Paul, II. That truly was one of the most sacred experiences of her life. She was a born again Christian and, throughout her life, showed her love of the Lord by serving others. She involved herself in St. Rita's Women's Club, the Legion of Mary and blessed the lives of everyone she touched. Emily was an expert seamstress and worked hard for many years making and mending clothes for family and friends. She was also gifted with excellent culinary skills, and for 56 years, she opened her home to all for a Christmas celebration serving her delicious tamales. This beautiful lady was a devoted wife to her husband of 6 decades, was a great mother to her children, and a loving and doting Granny to her grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all whom have had the privilege to know her and call her friend. Emily is survived by her husband, Ron Greene of Show Low, Arizona; son, Michael (Elaine) Greene of St. Johns, Arizona; 5 daughters: Karen (Jeff) Mountford of Gilbert, Arizona, Stephanie (Kent) McQuillan of Show Low, Arizona, Angela (Mike) Dalessandri of Phoenix, Arizona, Deanna England of Show Low, Arizona, Jacqueline (Nate) Day of Show Low, Arizona; her sister, Esther Perez of Pico Rivera, California; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luis Larini and Guadalupe Huerta Gomez; step-father, Salvador Gomez; a sister, Eva Kanouse; a brother, Manuel Larini and a son-in-law, Jimbo England. The Recitation of The Holy Rosary will begin 7:00 P.M., Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 1400 E. Owens Street in Show Low, Arizona. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will also be at St. Rita's Catholic Church and will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 1, 2012. A visitation will follow from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Emily's family extends their gratitude to everyone who has expressed their sympathy through thought and deed. They are especially thankful for the prayers offered up on their behalf, and the special care provided to her during her illness from her church family. They would also like to publicly thank Judy St. John and Stacey Griner from Hospice Compassus and Mary Mueller for the tender and loving care they gave Emily during her final time in this life. You all truly are angels.
