Carl Herman Babcock died Monday morning, November 26, 2012 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was 88 years old. Carl was born in Alma, Gratiot County, Michigan to his parents, the late Frederick Coleman and Lillian May (Markum) Babcock. Throughout his long life, Carl worked as a skilled house painter and was always willing to help others with their painting needs. He moved to Arizona in 1999 and truly enjoyed spending much of his retirement years in the beauty of The White Mountains. He always found a great deal of joy being in the great-out-of-doors. He always appreciated good music. Carl's greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids and looked forward to frequent picnics with them. He was a gentleman who possessed a generous spirit and had an incredible sense of humor. He loved to tell "corny" jokes and liked to make others laugh and feel comfortable in his presence. Carl Herman Babcock is survived by his wife, Shirley Babcock of Show Low, Arizona; 4 daughters: Mona Lucille Moxley of Mena, Arkansas, Janice Louise Timmer of Hudsonville, Michigan, Bethany Ruth Purcell of Apache Junction, Arizona, Carla Annette Evans of Interlochen, Michigan; 2 sons: Eric Carl Babcock of Buckley, Michigan, Steven Wesley Babcock of Arizona City, Arizona; 2 step-sons: Keith Deskins of Farmington, Michigan, Matt O'Neal of Mt. Clemens, Michigan; 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gala Shann Babcock; 2 daughters: Carolyn Joy Fuller, Gala Colleen Van Til; 2 sons: Jeffery Mark Babcock and Jonathan David Babcock. A special memorial service for Carl will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Campbell Stocking Family Funeral Home, 408 W. Main Street in Farwell, Michigan (989) 588-4541. The Babcock family is thankful for all the expressions of sympathy they have received from their community of friends and are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up on their behalf.
