Delores Marie Kayona Palmer, of Canyon Day, Navajo County, Arizona peacefully died on Monday, November 19, 2012 in Globe, Gila County, Arizona. She was 90 years old. Delores was born to the late Frank and Andrea (Anzora) Kayona in Laguna Pueblo, Cibola County, New Mexico on November 5, 1922. Delores was a master at handcrafts and an excellent seamstress. She loved to sew and knit and enjoyed cooking and making her own jams. She had a beautiful garden and she always enjoyed using her "homegrown" vegetables for her many wonderful meals. She lived and raised her family in McNary, Arizona. She called McNary "home" for many years before moving to Whiteriver, Arizona where she lived the remainder of her life. Delores worked for the White Mountain Apache Tribe for many years. She loved to return to her childhood home in Paraje, New Mexico so she could visit with family and friends. She was very supportive and protective of her family and was always providing for them. Delores will be missed by all, but, none will miss her more than her loving family. She is survived by her 5 children: Vernon (Cynthia), Richard, Raymond (Madeline), Keith (Heidi), Andrea (Louie); 18 grandchildren and is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest J. Palmer, by a son, Glen Palmer and by her daughter-in-law Chadeen Palmer A one night wake will begin at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, November 23, 2012 at the family residence, 1131 Arrow Street in Hondah, Arizona. The funeral service will begin at the Palmer Family Home begin at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, November 24, 2012. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Cooley Mountain Cemetery in Hondah, Arizona.
