Frank Allen Chilcote, of Pinetop, Navajo County, Arizona passed away November 9, 2012 at his home in Pinetop. He was 90. Frank was born to the late T.F. and Currie (Levan) Chilcote in Glendale, Maricopa County, Arizona on May 29, 1922. Frank was an exceptional person. He was raised on a farm in Glendale and learning farming and mechanical skills from his granddad and father. He served in the Pacific theater as an avionics machinist during WWII and re-enlisted after the war in the United States Navy serving mostly in Japan. After the military he worked as an auto mechanic alongside his father in McNary, Pinetop, Springerville and various communities in Colorado. He settled in Pinetop, Arizona and married Martha McNary Wilson in 1965. Frank volunteered for several decades with the Pinetop Volunteer Fire Department. Frank was the water master for the Pinetop Water Company and served as the volunteer water master for Pinetop Irrigation Company. Frank enjoyed fly fishing in the White Mountains as well as salt water fishing in Mexico. Alongside his other favorite hobbies of rock collecting and hunting, he enjoyed hiking and many will remember him for his daily walks to the Pinetop Post Office as these walks helped keep him young and healthy. A very intelligent man, he loved to read and did so up until the final days of his life. He is survived by his daughter, Diana (Bill) Butler of Pinetop, Arizona; son, Doug (Donna) Wilson of Springerville, Arizona; grandchildren, Amanda Butler of Tucson, Arizona, Jim (Jennifer) Stevens of San Tan Valley, Arizona and Shane Stevens of Springerville, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha McNary Chilcote in 2000. Private services are planned.
