Dean Victor Thomas died at his home on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in Holbrook, Navajo County, Arizona. He was 66 years old. Dean was born in Monroe, Ouachita County, Louisiana to the late Frank Clayton and Mary Davis (Carey) Thomas. As a young boy his family moved to Lubbock, Texas and following his his school graduation, Dean went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Texas Tech University. He was a veteran of The United States Air Force and served during the height of the Vietnam War. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Diana Camille MacDougall, on August 23, 1969. They most recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary and shared a beautiful life together. He was a loving husband to Diana and wonderful father to his daughters and a fun grandpa to his grandchildren. None will miss him more than they. In July of 1977, Dean moved with his family to Holbrook, Arizona where he has since resided. He and his wife were able to rear their daughters, Carey and Jamie there and considered it the best place to raise a family. Dean was employed by the City of Holbrook as its Director of Parks and Recreation for 22 years and was a friendly and familiar face to everyone whom has had the privilege to work with him. Dean Victor Thomas is survived by: his wife, Diana Thomas; 2 daughters: Carey (Earl) Kester, Jamie (Scott) Gaines; brother, Keith Thomas; and by 7 grandchildren: Brandon, Bryan, Alyssa, Lauren, Riley, Kayla and Kayse. The public visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Holbrook Chapel, 409 N. 1st Avenue in Holbrook, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 5, 2012 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 360 N. 1st Avenue in Holbrook, Arizona. The concluding service with military honors will follow at the Holbrook Cemetery in Holbrook, Arizona.
