Joyce Reading Smith Turley

Joyce Reading Smith Turley passed away quietly in her sleep during the night of October 15-16th, 2012 in Chandler, Arizona. She was born on October 7, 1923 in Murray, Salt Lake County, Utah to the late Franklin Everett and Pearl Lavelda (Jensen) Reading. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Frank L. Turley, son, Dennis H. (Sue) Smith, Jody (Daniel) Mull, Jill (Jiggs) LeMieux; Frank's 6 children and their spouses; and her sister-in-law, Arlene (Ronald) Reading Belcher. Together, Frank and Joyce have 34 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, James O. Smith; her sister, Lylus (Ralph) Wahlen and a brother, Ronald Reading. Joyce will be greatly missed for her wonderful musical talents, her caring spirit, and her enthusiasm for life. Joyce was the founder and creative director of "The Songsmiths", a performing group that traveled all over the nation, including Washington, D.C., Hawaii and Alaska. A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friday, October 19, 2012 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Holbrook Chapel, 409 N. 1st Avenue in Holbrook, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Lakeshore Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6001 S. Lakeshore Drive in Tempe, Arizona where additional viewing will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding graveside service and interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in San Pedro, California.
