Robert Charles Barnes died August 20, 2012 in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona at the age of 58. Robert was born on June 29, 1954 in Hawthorne, Mineral County, Nevada to his father, the late Charles E. Barnes and his mother, Irene Barnes. Robert went to school at Blue Ridge and graduated from Blue Ridge High School in 1973. Following high school he attended Glendale Community College where he met many life-long friends. After college he moved back to the White Mountains where he resided until his passing. Many will remember Robert as an excellent cook. He owned and operated the Substations in Show Low and Pinetop and was known as having the best sandwiches around. When he finally decided to follow other opportunities many were heartbroken to known that they no longer would be able to find such a great sandwich. After closing his businesses he became the area manager for Burger King, a job he enjoyed for many years. Robert was friendly and kind to all. He never met a stranger and had many friends throughout the area. A great musician, he loved good music. He enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his son. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and the many quiet and peaceful moments spent on a good lake or stream. A loving father, brother and son he will be missed by all. He leaves to mourn his passing his: mother, Irene Barnes of Show Low, Arizona; son, Gregory (Kaylin) Barnes of Mannford, Oklahoma; a grandbaby, Payson Lynn; his siblings: Lesley Barnes of Lakeside, Arizona, Stephen Fish of New Mexico, Sharon Fazio of Dewey, Arizona; niece, Morgan (Jed) Quade) of Show Low, Arizona; grand-nephew, Nathan Quade of Show Low, Arizona and many other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death not only by his father, Charles E. Barnes but, also by his grandparents: Ernest & Thelma Barnes and Leslie & Leah Teel. A special public memorial service will begin 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona where Chaplain Kevin Weaver, from Hospice Compassus, will officiate. Robert's family is so grateful for all the prayers offered up on their behalf as well as the gestures of kindness they have received during this difficult time. You are all so very appreciated!
