Donald Earl Cannon, Sr.

December 20, 1934 — June 5, 2012

Donald Earl Cannon, Sr. died just before the sunrise of Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona following a lengthy illness. He was 77 years. Donald was born on December 20, 1934 in New Bedford, Monmouth County, New Jersey to the late Charles Henry, Sr. and Geneva Louise (Maxey) Cannon. Donald was a loving husband and father and a great friend to everyone whomever had the privilege to know him. He dearly loved his time in the great out-of-doors, especially camping and hunting. Donald was also an avid photographer and many of his photos are now considered treasures to his family and friends. He was a "jack of all trades" and was considered to be an excellent mechanic who could fix just about anything. He also enjoyed spending some of his spare time making jewelry. His jewelry talents were so expert that he actually "cast" for many well-known Native American artists. Don was also a pioneer in native plant salvage throughout the state of Arizona. He was a very loving man and was always generous to his loving wife and family. This incredibly talented man will be missed by many but none will miss him more than his own family. Don is survived by: his wife, Ramona (Cortez) Cannon of Show Low, Arizona; 5 children: Donald Cannon, Jr. of Show Low, Arizona, Laura A. (Randy) Gregory of Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas (Jennifer Amundsen) Cannon of Scottsdale, Arizona, Robert W. (Ana) Cannon of Cave Creek, Arizona, Mona Lisa (Michael) Steen of Cottonwood Heights, Utah; his grandchildren: Randall John Gregory II, Taylor Elizabeth Cannon, Vanessa Marie Cannon, Brianna Cannon, Brittney Cannon, Dillon Michael Steen, Haley Noelle Steen; a brother, Charles H. Cannon, II; nephews: Danny Galindo, Arthur Galindo as well as many other nieces and nephews. Don is also survived by his loyal friend "Bustur" who always showed him unconditional love. Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Sydney Cannon. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday evening, June 10, 2012 beginning at 7:00 P.M. at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 1400 East Owens, Show Low, Arizona.
