Mary Louise Pierce died Sunday afternoon, April 29, 2012 in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. She was 77 years old. She was born on May 18, 1934 in Burbank, Ohio to the late Latt and Effie (Hooser) Wellman. She has lived in Arizona since 1971, some 41 years ago. Mary was the chief telephone operator for the phone company in Holbrook, Arizona which was then know as the Western States Phone Company. Later the company's name changed to Contell and, finally, GTE. After working as the chief operator, Mary went back to the board where she remained until her retirement. She truly loved her career and made many life-long friends and was always shared a warm and friendly smile with everyone at the phone company. Mary was also a devout member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Show Low, Arizona. Mary is survived by her loving family, including her husband, Georgis e "Ed" Pierce of Show Low, Arizona; her 4 children: Diane Franks (Roger) Adams of Eagar, Arizona, William "Bill" (Kathy) Franks of Eagar, Arizona, Larry (Michelle) Pierce of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Steven R. Pierce of Flagstaff, Arizona; 1 brother, Charles R. Wellman of Brinnen, Georgia; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate the life of this increibly woman will begin 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 12 , 2012 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Show Low, Arizona.. Arrangements are being cared for by Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel.
