John Tensley Berry

John Tensley Berry, of Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona passed away peacefully April 29, 2012 at his home in Show Low. John was born to the late Willie and Vivian (Wood) Berry on Valentine's Day February 14, 1934 in Hasting, Jefferson County, Oklahoma. John grew up in Mesa, Arizona before he enlisted in the United States Army at age 15 and served for 3 years before going into the United States Navy and serving 3 years there. He married Jessie Goldean Perrine in 1955. They had 3 children Debbie, John and Bryan. He was a member of the Local Painter #86 over 20 years when he started his own business, John Berry and Son Painting. He retired in 1991 and served 3 Genealogy Missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Genealogy Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has many fond memories traveling with his wife, Goldean, of over 60 years and his spending time with his grandchildren hunting and fishing in Colorado. John is survived by his loving wife, Goldean Berry of Show Low, Arizona; children, John (Anita) Berry, Debra (David) Dodd, Bryan Berry; one brother, Charles Penrod; grandchildren, Shane Dodd, Luke Dodd, Julie Mills, Jennifer Jackson, John Berry Jr., Jeff Armendarez, Jeremy Berry; great-grandchildren, Tyler Mills, Dylan Mills, Wyatt Jackson, Kolby Dodd, Elizabeth Dodd, Mya Armendarez, Jenna Rose Armendarez and Ava Daisy Armendarez. He was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Berry and Roy Penrod as well as a grandson, Scott Dodd. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Thursday May 3, 2012 at Owens Livingston Mortuary~White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St., Show Low, Arizona. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Friday May 4, 2012 at the Show Low Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1401 W. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low, Arizona with a visitation beginning at 12:30. Interment will follow in the Show Low Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the Veterans of the White Mountains.
