Evelyn Lupe, age 54, passed away late Monday evening April 23, 2012 at the Whiteriver Hospital in Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona. She was born on July 12, 1957 to Sam Begay and Mary Silversmith in Ft. Defiance, Apache County, Arizona. Evelyn taught at various schools including JFK School in Whiteriver, Theodore Roosevelt in Ft. Apache and Cibecue School. She met her husband Richard Lupe while she was attending college and they were married on August 21, 1982. From this union they had 3 sons, Sean Glenn Lupe, Daniel Glenn Lupe and Brent Glenn Lupe. Evelyn loved to collect magnents from various states that her husband Rick fought fires in and that collection continued with her son Sean after Rick passed away. Evelyn also loved to plant flowers, run and read. She also loved to play basketball in college. Evelyn is survived by her 3 sons, Sean, Daniel and Brent; grandchild, Payton Lupe; mother and step-father, Mary & Frank Morgan; 2 brothers, Gilbert (Christina) Begay, Eugene (Laverne M.) Begay; 2 sisters, Bernice (Bennie C.) Yazzie, Lou Ann (Eugene) Jones; Godchildren, Courtney Thorne, Delores Thomas, Shawquan Altaha, Anjelica Jones, Brittney Jones, Lou Gene Jones; Aunts, Elizabeth Brown, Marie Silver; Uncles, Ralph Nelson, Jim Silversmith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Glenn Lupe; father, Sam Begay; 2 brothers, Ervin Begay, Calvin Sam Begay; paternal grandparents, Mary & Charley Begay; maternal grandparents, Sam Silversmith and Regina James; aunt, Eleanor Claw. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 Friday, April 27, 2012 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Whiteriver. Concluding Services and Interment will be in the Canyon Day Cemetery.
