Gilbert Cooya

Gilbert Cooya died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Tall Pines Nursing Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona following a lengthy illness. He was 53 years old. Gilbert was born on November 10, 1958 in Cibecue, Navajo County, Arizona to the late Gilmore Cooya Sr. and Marie Pina Cooya. Gilbert was a real cowboy and ranch hand who worked all over the reservation doing what he loved the most. He was a man who very much enjoyed being outdoors. Gilbert also worked for FATCO in Cibecue as a lumber yardman for several years. Gilbert is survived by a son, Shawn Cooya of Cibecue, Arizona; a grandson, Nashawn Cooya of Whiteriver, Arizona; a brother, Zane Cooya of Cibecue, Arizona and many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. A wake to commemorate Gilbert's life will begin 2:00 P.M., Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the family residence, #3 East 5th St. Cromwell Road in Cibecue, Arizona. The funeral service will also be at the family residence and will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 21, 2012. The concluding service and interment will follow at the Sandy Rock Cemetery in Cibecue.
