Carol Jane Stanford

Carol Jane Stanford died Saturday morning, April 7, 2012 at Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation Center in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona following a sudden illness. She was 64 years old. Carol was born on April 20, 1947 in Burbank, Los Angeles County, California to the late John Duke, Sr. and Delphine Olivia (Jenson) Stanford. She moved to Arizona 32 years ago and has lived in several places throughout the state. Much of that time was spent in Flagstaff where she was able to work at Northern Arizona University as a food preparation specialist. She was well like by just about EVERYONE she ever met. Since birth, Carol has had special needs as a Downs Syndrome person and got to meet many people over the years. Naturally, she had a very generous and giving heart. She was a friendly face to many at Flagstaff's nursing homes, where she would volunteer her time by sitting and crocheting with the elderly. She is survived by her brother, John Duke Stanford, Jr. of Teec Nos Pos, Arizona and a son, Douglas John Haymaker most recently of Sacramento, California. Private family services will be held at a later date.
