Marvin Davis

May 20, 1932 — April 3, 2012

Marvin Davis was born May 20, 1932 in Prescott, Yavapai County, Arizona to Milton (Milt) and Grace Davis. He worked with his father from an early age as a log cutter in the Arizona and New Mexico area until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Most of his time in the military was spent in Korea. Upon his return from the military, Marvin met and married his life's partner, Vera Simpson, on April 11, 1957 and had two children. The eldest of which is Cherell Davis, the youngest Marva Davis. Marvin worked as a logger for several years while running a ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona. He left the log woods to become a full time rancher during the 80's in Pie Town, New Mexico. Marvin was a strong Christian who defined the term "do unto others." Everyone was a friend and he never got tired of giving. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was always ready for life's next big adventure. Marvin always had a plan but was not afraid to deviate for a bit of fun. Although he was always busy and always planning the next trip or the next big project, one of his favorite things was to just sit on the porch and enjoy the weather for hours at a time. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed working around the ranch. He especially enjoyed fishing or anything to do with the lake. Marvin was slow to anger, and always met life's misadventures with a lesson and a calm solution. Marvin is survived by his wife, Vera Davis; his 2 daughters: Cherell (Don Cooper), Marva (Danny Riccitelli); his 2 grandchildren: Shaun (Urvashi Bhakta), Amanda (Matthew Laick); 4 great-grandchildren: Suraj, Sabrina, Lily, Matthew; and his sister, Marie Jennings. Marvin passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Safford, Graham County, Arizona on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. A viewing will begin at 9:00 A.M. at the Burton Baptist Church in Burton, Arizona on Monday April 9, 2012 which will immediately be followed by the funeral service at 10:30 A.M. All are welcome to attend. Marvin will be missed by all, but his wisdom will live on forever. Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel of Show Low, Arizona cared for the arrangements.
