James Edward Swigart

August 7, 1930 — March 29, 2012

James Edward Swigart died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his home in Pinetop, Navajo County, Arizona from natural causes. He was 81 years old. James, who was affectionately known at "T.J." by his friends was born on August 7, 1930 in Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania to the late James Walter and Clara (Fullerton) Swigart. As a young man, T.J. enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict, and 28 years later was able to retire and receive his honorable discharge from that faithful and dedicated service. To his family he was, and always will be, a hero. He also worked for sometime as an advertising sales representative. Wherever he was, he was known as the "man who could get the job done." In 1979, T.J. moved to the White Mountains and was able to truly appreciate the beauty of God's creations and loved the peace and quiet of his community. He looked forward to helping others whenever possible because he felt that when he was in the service of his fellowman, he was only in the service of his God. He truly was a servant of The Lord. Many will miss the generous and kind ways of this great man. T.J. is survived by his 3 children: David Swigart of San Angelo, Texas, Susan (Tim) Acker of Knoxville, Tennessee, Ellen (Mike) Godwin San Angelo, Texas; 6 grandchildren: Jeremy Swigart, Eric Acker, Steffany Acker, Shaunna Acker, Shane Godwin, Natalie Godwin; 2 great-grandchildren: Isabel Swigart and Bodhi Swigart. A special memorial service for James Edward "T.J." Swigart will begin 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Owens LIVINGSTON MORTUARY - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona.
