Minnie Begay Wade, 72, a resident of Holbrook, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 in Phoenix, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and other family members. She was born on the Navajo Reservation near Whitecone on March 19, 1940, to Howard and Ruth (Peshlakai) Begay. She at-tended Keams Canyon Ele-mentary School, then moved on to Winslow, where she graduated in 1962. Minnie moved to Phoe-nix to go to beauty school for her beautician's license. When she first moved to Holbrook she worked many years at Opal's Hair Salon, where she met some lifelong friends. She worked for Debbie McMinn, then opened Nizhonnii Hair Salon. In 1995, she started working at Hairlapeos. At the end of her beautician career she was working once again with her great friend Henri at Henri's Shear Pleasures. Minnie was a resident and a beautician in Holbrook for over 40 years. She made great friends wherever she went. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, listening to her old favorites, Elvis, Patsy, the 50's and 60's music. Most of all, Minnie loved spending time with her huge family, especially all her grandchildren. She was loved by all, and will be greatly missed by all family and friends. Survivors include her mother, Ruth Begay of Besh Be'to; daughters Diane (Preston) Dalgai of Payson, and Tre Wade, Manley (Ti-na) Barton and Marcella Barton, all of Holbrook; her grandchildren, Terry Lynn Pete of Mesa, Montana Dawn Wade of Holbrook-Payson, Hannah Justine Dalgai of Payson, and Trevor Manley Barton and Sean Manley Barton, both of Holbrook; three brothers; and seven sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona, Holbrook, Arizona with a viewing one hour prior to the mass. Interment will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.
