Robert Belknap Markey

Robert Belknap Markey, of Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona passed away peacefully March 9, 2012 at his home in Show Low. He was 95. Robert was born, the youngest of 6 children, to the late Irwin Belknap and Della E. (Weston) Markey on August 10, 1916 in Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio. Robert served and earned his wings as an Officer in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. He continued to pursue his passion for flying and maintained his pilot's license for over 50 years. He retired after 38 years as an administrator with Ohio Bell Telephone Company after starting the Red Barons flying club for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company Employees. He was a dedicated family man and spent many vacations visiting and traveling with them. He enjoyed his last 15 years as an active resident of Payson, Arizona leaving many friends at the Majestic Rim Independent Living Community. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Caroline Jane Markey after 58 years of marriage. Robert is survived by 3 of his 4 adult children and his seven grandchildren. Private memorial services will be held. The family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17 Chicago, IL 60601-7633 Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
