David Robert Button

David Robert Button of Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona passed away from cardiac arrest on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. He was 63. Dave was born to Robert Munroe and Rowena Betty (Wilson) Button in Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York on October 19, 1948. He grew up on a dairy farm where he learned a strong work ethic at a young age. Dave moved to Arizona, in 1960, where he attended Creighton Elementary and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. He later graduated from NPC with a degree in Fire Science. He served as Fire Chief for the Linden Fire Department from 1983 to 1987. He was an active member and volunteer of the White Mountain Sheriff's Posse for 24+ years and served as Captain for three terms. Dave was a "Master" of all trades including: repairing automobiles, working as an electrical contractor and was an award-winning Snap-On Dealer. He had an entrepreneural spirit; he built and operated A-One Transmission until he retired and turned the reins over to his sons. He was currently serving as a project specialist for Martinez Management at the time of his death. More than anything, Dave had a deep love for his family. He took pride and enjoyment in creating and expressing his talents by building 8 beautiful homes for his wife and family. He also regularly contributed his time and talents to several projects of numerous friends. Dave didn't know a stranger; he was a man with a big heart, warm smile and had a charismatic personality, mentoring many children and was key in molding their lives' for the better. Papa Button leaves behind: his loving wife, Judy, of 43+ years: 2 sons: Tim (Tracie) Button, Richy (Christy) Button; his mother, Betty Reeve, all of Show Low, Arizona; 8 beautiful grandchildren: Jeff, Nicole, Breana, Paige, Kaylo, Melody, Tyler, Taylor; 2 brothers: Bob Button, Jay Button; an Aunt Sandy; several cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom's lives he influenced through the years. He cared for his father-in-law, sister-in-law and brother-in-law is if they were his own. Dave also leaves countless loving friends, whom he also had a profound effect upon. They all will miss and grieve the lack of his presence in their lives and activities, but will all remember him fondly. A public visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low, Arizona. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 16, 2012 at the White Mountain Bible Church, 3171 E. Show Low Lake Road in Show Low, Arizona. Memorial contributions, in David's name, to the White Mountain Sheriff's Posse, P.O. Box 830, Pinetop, Arizona 85935 have been suggested by his family so his legacy and work in assisting those in need may continue.
