Willa Mae McLean died late Sunday night, March 4, 2012 at her home in Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona following a lengthy illness. She was 84 years old. Willa was born on June 21, 1927 in the little farming town of Ajo, Pima County, Arizona to the late Leston Herman and Lyuna Ila (Bigelow) Stewart. As a young woman she married the true love of her life, John E. McLean. Throughout their marriage they loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout the world. For a period of 13 years, she and her husband called St. Thomas on The Virgin Islands home. Wherever she lived, Willa made her home a beautiful showplace for all her neighbors to enjoy; as she always found time to work in her garden and make her yard the talk of the block. Willa also enjoyed to do needlepoint and other handicrafts. Many of her creations are now considered treasures to her family and friends. She was also a person who appreciated good music; Country Western Music was, by far, her favorite. Willa Mae McLean was a woman who loved life and loved her family even more. She is survived by 3 children: Helen Deason of Lakeside, Arizona, John McLean of Ohio, Peggy McLean of Lakeside, Arizona; 2 sisters: Peggy Runyan of Tucson, Arizona and Pauline Brabham of Lakeside, Arizona. Willa was preceded in death by her forever sweetheart, John E. McLean several years ago. A private family service will be held at a later date. However, Willa's family is so very grateful for all the expressions of sympathies they have received from their friends and neighbors and are especially grateful for all the prayers offered up on their behalf.
