Joyce Elizabeth Malone, of Lakeside, Navajo County, Arizona passed away peacefully Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Sierra Blanca Rehab Center in Lakeside. She was 84. Joyce was born on October 8, 1927 in Delaware, Logan County, Arkansas to the late John Henry and Lula Gertrude (Esque) Poynter. Joyce had one passion and that was helping others. She was very active and instrumental in getting the program, Alcoholics Anonymous, up here in the White Mountains. She was active for nearly 43 years. Joyce was known to let people stay in her home as they were going through difficult times and enjoyed the many gifts of love and friendships that she made throughout her many years of service to the community. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend she will be missed by all but none more than her own family. Joyce is survived by her children, Bill (Sherri) Malone of Lakeside, Arizona, Dorothy (Leo) Smith of Lakeside, Arizona; grandchildren, Terry (Shelly) Smith of Tucson, Arizona, Jason (Melissa) Malone of Casa Grande, Arizona, Pilar Malone of Casa Grande, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Kortnee (Alex) Austin of Tucson, Arizona, Kelbee Smith of Tucson, Arizona, Drew Salazar of Casa Grande, Arizona, Madison Malone of Casa Grande, Arizona, Gage Malone of Casa Grande, Arizona; niece, Gail Jeanette (Glenn) Halderman of Phoenix, Arizona; nephew, Gary (Doris) Wilmith of New Johnsonville, Tennessee and a brother-in-law, Chester (Wilma) Malone of Brawley, California. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene "Gene" Malone on September 11, 2001. Private services will be held.
