Edward Joseph Nagel, lovingly known as "Dutch" by his family and friends, passed away on December 31, 2011 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. He was 86 years old. Dutch was born on April 3, 1925 in Landeck, Allen County, Ohio to the late Arnold and Mary (Ruen) Nagel. As a young man, he served in The U.S. Army during the Japanese Occupation just following WWII. He moved to Arizona in 1954 and lived many years in the Phoenix area. In 1988, he moved to the beautiful White Mountains and has lived in Show Low ever since. Dutch was blessed in life with a loving wife, Donna May (Kramer) Nagel. While living in Show Low, the couple was very active at The White Mountain Square Dance Club in Linden. Dutch was committed to the club for more than 20 years. From 1997 to 1998 Dutch and Donna served as Presidents for the club; a position they filled most expertly. Sadly, Donna died on July 18, 1998. Dutch continued with his participation at the square dance club and was involved with every aspect of its growth and development as well as the maintenance of its facilities. In the process of volunteering so much of his time with the square dance club, he gained many dear and close friends. Dutch also was an active member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elk (B.P.O.E.) Show Low Lodge #2090. Dutch truly spent his life in the service of others and found great joy in doing so. Edward Joseph "Dutch" Nagel leaves behind his loving family. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki (John) Hammonds of Corpus Christi, Texas; 3 granddaughters: Seanna (Daniel) Watkins Munn, Tiffany Watkins Lewis, Tara (Tony Richards) Hammonds; 7 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Chrina, Johnathon, Lila, Daylon, Charlie and Oliver.
