Loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Roger Lane Willis, passed away peacefully at his home in Taylor, Arizona surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. He was 65 years old. In his younger years, Roger was a gifted athlete who played fast pitch softball, football, wrestled and later was a hero to his daughters. Roger loved to tease people, but everyone was a friend to him no matter what. He was a Christ like person who was filled with charity, love and service to others. Roger was a former bishop in the Taylor 1st Ward. He was a poet who liked to make-up songs and nicknames for others. He was a very patriotic man who loved to hunt and fish and be in the outdoors. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Cathy of Taylor, Arizona; 6 daughters: Cassie (Harry) Woods of Tempe, Arizona, Tami (Darrell) McCray of Taylor, Arizona, Kris (John) Black of Thatcher, Arizona, Tara (Donavon) Kay of Snowflake, Arizona, Heather (Darren) Perkins of Taylor, Arizona and Heidi (Joe) McCray of Snowflake; 33 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild "on the way"; 4 brothers: Dahl (Shelly) Willis of Mesa, Arizona, Jared (Brenda) Willis of Taylor, Arizona; Josh (Amy) Willis of Mesa, Arizona; Jason (Kim) Willis of Snowflake, Arizona; 3 sisters: Shanna Willis of Taylor, Arizona, Loyelyn Aceves of Taylor, Arizona and Eliza (Jim) Robinson of Kanab, Utah. A public viewing will be held 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 30, 2011 at Owens Livingston Mortuary-Heritage Chapel 84 E. 19 S., Snowflake, Arizona. Funeral services will be held on 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Taylor Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 309 W. Willow Lane Taylor, Arizona with a viewing beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Snowflake handled the arrangements.
