Ruby Young, of Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona passed away surrounded by her loving family, November 29, 2011 at the Whiteriver Hospital in Whiteriver, Arizona. She was 78. Ruby was born on July 10, 1933 in Canyon Day, Navajo County, Arizona to the late Martin and May (Ball) Susan. Ruby was employed at the Whiteriver IHS Hospital as an LPN for 40 years before her retirement. She loved the work and all the many people she had the opportunity to come in contact with. An avid knitter and reader she was very traditional and loved to dance. She enjoyed listening to George Strait and was very fond of his music. Ruby loved being with her grandchildren and family and enjoyed the many memories made with them. She had a big heart and was always willing to give of her self. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend she will be missed by all. Ruby is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Latrell) Tuvequaftewa, Ina Young, Cordy Young; sons, Keith (Nancy) Young, Ivor Young Jr., Burton Young, Tyrone Young; sisters, Martha Harris, Marlene Declay, Ola Declay; brothers, Ross Susan, Vernon Susan, Kenneth Susan; 28 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; best friend, Dollie Guy; caregiver, Vernalyn Velasquez as well as many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivor D. Young Sr.; sons, Byron and Leander Young; brother, Davis Susan Sr. and a sister, Mary Fall. A one night wake will begin at 10:00AM Monday December 5, 2011 at her residence, 9 N. 4th Ave, Whiteriver, Arizona. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday December 6, 2011 at the Saint Francis Catholic Church, 9 W. Elm St., Whiteriver, Arizona. Interment will follow in the Red Hills Cemetery in Cedar Creek, Arizona.
