Daryl Rogers, 80, of Winslow passed away on Friday November 11, 2011 of causes incident to age. He was surrounded by his family who loved and will greatly miss him. Daryl was born in Snowflake, Arizona on June 30, 1931 to John Marcus Rogers and Mary Eager. He spent the majority of his life in Snowflake where he enjoyed being near immediate and extended family which were always his first priority in life. Daryl was the sixth of nine children, father to nine children, step-father to four, grandfather to thirty-nine and great-grandfather to seventeen. After graduating from Snowflake High School, Daryl served an LDS mission to the North Central States followed by a brief stint in the US Army before returning to Snowflake to help care for his ailing father. He married Donna Skousen in 1958 and together they had nine children. He worked briefly as a Tempe Police Officer and also for the Tempe Fire Department before returning to his roots in Snowflake where he lived for the next forty years. Daryl married Betty Randall in 1987 and added four step-children to his large family. Daryl made his living working as a carpenter but his real love was anything that would allow him to be out in nature. He loved to camp, hunt, fish, garden and care for animals. If you knew Daryl at all, you will certainly have spent at least one night with him stuck in the mud somewhere looking for the ideal camping spot. You would also know that Daryl would and often did give you the shirt off his back, the last serving of food at the table, and the last dollar in his pocket. Daryl is survived by his wife Betty, three sisters Mabel Wilhelm, Nyla DeWitt and Linda Anderson, and a large posterity who love and miss their grandpa. May he rest in peace until we meet again. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday November 16, 2011 in Snowflake at the Main Street Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 48 N. Main Street Snowflake, Arizona with the visitation to begin at 9:30 A.M. at the same location. Burial will follow at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Cemetery in Snowflake, Arizona.
