Regine Elly Koelman died rather unexpectedly on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at her home at Juniper Ridge in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona. She was 69 years old. Regine was born on January 5, 1942 in Koningsburg, Germany to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Maczolek) Weiss. She was a loving homemaker and dear wife to her husband and a great mother to her children. In 2009 Regine's lifelong dream of becoming an American citizen came true. She was proud of her German roots but was so happy to become an American. Regine was somewhat of a social being. She loved being in the company of others; whether it was just with her husband and children or being the life of the party as she gathered with friends. Regine had a knack for playing computer poker and she was quite good at it. She also had a great skill with needlework. She loved doing needlework with her friends and literally made dozens of pieces over the years. Many of those pieces are now treasured gifts to her family and friends. Regine also had a gardener's green thumb. She could make anything grow in her yard and had a beautiful garden. She loved to spend hour after hour making her garden and yard quite the showplace. This beautiful, energetic lady, who was so full of life and happiness, will greatly be missed by many. None will, however, miss her more than her own family. Regine Elly Koelman is survived by: her husband, Cornelis Jacobus "Dutch" Koelman of Show Low, Arizona; 2 daughters: Jeannette Darm of Germany, Beatrix Dallaire of Houston, British Columbia; 2 step-daughters: Katherine Taylor of Redding, California, Karen Reginato of Mt. Shasta, California; 1 brother, Klaus Weiss of Germany; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Private family services will be held at a later date and Regine will be laid to rest at the Koelman family plot in the Mt. Shasta Cemetery in Mt. Shasta, California.
