Ken Evan Aland

April 2, 1943 — August 10, 2011

Ken Evan Aland died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona with his wife at his side. He was 68 years old. Ken was born on April 2, 1943 in Driggs, Teton County, Idaho to the late Russell Nelson and Ileen Lovenia (Beard) Aland. As a young man, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army during the height of the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, Ken worked in fabrication in the aerospace industry. He has lived in Arizona for the past 3 years and truly appreciated the beauty of the White Mountains. Ken was well-liked and truly beloved by all whom have had the privilege to know him; including his mother-in-law, neighbors and friends, both near and far. He was a great friend and example, not only to his own family but, to the many children who knew his heart. This kind and gentle man will be missed by the many people who called him "husband", "father", "brother", "son-in-law" and "friend." He is survived by: his wife, Teresa Aland of Snowflake, Arizona; 4 children: Robert Aland of Mound, Minnesota, Ana Cortez of Los Angeles, California, Alexander Cortez of Chula Vista, California, Adrien Cortez of Chula Vista, California; 2 sisters: Bonnie Smith of Escondido, California and Lynda Denning of Riverton, Utah. His family family finds great comfort knowing that his daughter, Staci Aland, who preceded him in death, was there to help him with his own passing and that they are now together again. Private family services will be held. Ken's family is thankful to all for the many acts of kindness expressed to them through thought and deed and are especially grateful for the many prayers offered up in their behalf.
