Leota Hazeltine Dowdle

Leota Hazeltine Dowdle, of Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center. She was 95 years old. Leota was born August 13, 1915 in Safford, Graham County, Arizona to the late James and Myrtle (Talley) Foster. Leota met and fell in love with Edward David Dowdle and on August 30, 1933 they were married in Safford, Graham County, Arizona. They enjoyed 67 wonderful years together before Ed's passing in 2000. They lived in Arizona where they enjoyed many different areas of the state including Safford, Klondyke, Douglas, Globe and Yuma. Leota and Ed also lived in Uvalde, Texas, Fresno, California and Campo, California, before moving to Show Low and the beautiful White Mountains in 1964. While living in Show Low, Leota worked for the Old Josephine Goldwater Hospital where she enjoyed many years of service and friendships. She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Williamson of Linden, Arizona, Carole Jackson of Houston, Texas; son, Edward D. Dowdle (Lorraine) of Linden, Arizona; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel, 112 E. Main St., Safford, Arizona. Graveside services will be held 11:00AM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Graham Cemetery, Safford, Arizona.
