Dean Haislet Hindal passed away at the age of 73 on April 6, 2011 with all his loving family surrounding him at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born June 18, 1937 at Owatonna Minnesota hospital to Zora M Hindal and Wilbur Hindal. He grew up in rural West Concord Minnesota and graduated from West Concord High School in 1955. On August 23, 1958 he married Mary Lou Apfel. They farmed in rural West Concord until 1986. He was served on the PCA/Federal Land Bank board and served on the West Concord Butter & Cheese board. He raised hogs, sheep, Arabian horses, soybeans corn, oats and hay. In 1985 he began his culinary skills after a farm accident. In 1986 they moved to Arizona and he did handyman jobs along with painting houses until he retired in 2000. In 2002 they moved to Show Low, Arizona where he pursued his hobbies of woodworking, fishing, playing bridge, traveling and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou after 52 years of marriage; 2 daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Johnson of Rochester, Minnesota, Lisa (Glen) Lenzen of Cave Creek, Arizona; 2 sons, Mark (Lynette) Hindal of Rochester, Minnesota and Kevin (Mary) Hindal of Scappoose, Oregon; grandchildren: Erik, Evan and Ethan Johnson, Dylan and Carly Lenzen, Ellie and Emily Hindal, Nathan and Allyson Hindal; 2 great-grandchildren, Cody and Peyton Hindal; brother Myles Grant (Linda) Hindal of Cannon Falls, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gary. A memorial service will be held 5:30 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2011 at the White Mountain Bible Church 3171 Show Low Lake Road, Show Low, Arizona and another memorial service will be held at a later date in June of 2011 in West Concord, Minnesota. Memorial contributions may be made in Dean's honor to the White Mountain Bible Church 3171 Show Low Lake Road, Show Low, Arizona or to the West Concord Historical Society P.O. Box 58 West Concord, Minnesota 55985 or to the donor's choice. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
