Dorothy Jane Deifenbaugh

Dorothy Jane "Dot" Deifenbaugh, of Lakeside, Arizona, died peacefully March 23, 2011 at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona form causes incident to her age. She was 86 years old. Dorothy was born March 6, 1925 in Marion, Grant County, Indiana to the late Estes and Helen (Bowers) Muchmore. Dot married the love of her life, Hugh Deifenbaugh in July of 1944. On their wedding day they left for Casa Grande, Ariaona. Dot and her husband spent 2 years in Peru where their 5th child, Melody was born. They returned from Peru and resided in Pinetop, Arionza until 1968 at which time they set up residency in Roswell, New Mexico. Her loving husband passed away in 1994 after 50 years of marriage. Dot returned to the beauty of The White Mountains in 2006 to be near her son, Fred and his family. Dorothy worked as a bookkeeper for many years and was still actively working for a friend at the time of her death. She was very creative and excelled in handicrafts, sewing and ceramics. Many of her creations now are considered to her family and friends as special "treasures" as they now adorn many of their homes. Dot's favorite activity was bowling. She was an avid bowler, carrying a high average well into her seventies. She bowled on numerous leagues and enjoyed the trips to bowling tournaments with her many friends. Dot was also a very good Bridge player. When she returned to the White Mountains she was an active member of the White Mountain Womens' Club. She is survived by her 5 children: Fred Deifenbaugh of Lakeside, Arizona, Randy Deifenbaugh, Pam Allen of Redding, California, Truday Stramel of Hayward, California, Melody Benton of Artesia, New Mexico; and her last surviving sister, Suzanne Haisley of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was prececed in death by her husband, Hugh Deienbaugh. A celebration of her life will begin 3:00 P.M. May, 7, 2011 at the home of her son, Fred Deifenbaugh, 985 Flag Hollow Road in Lakeside, Arizona 85929. Memorial contributions in Dot's name to: The American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312, have been suggested by her family. Dot's family is so grateful for all the sympathies expressed to them through both thought and deed and are truly grateful for the prayers offered up on their behalf.
