Duane Shawn Burnette died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona following a lengthy illness. He was only 22 years old. Duane was born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1989 in Show Low, Navajo County, Arizona to Vino Shaw Burnette and Kathlyn Susan. Duane was very athletic during his high school years and participated in its football, baseball and basketball programs. He even attended the Lute Olson Baseball Camp. He was an "Honorable Mention" on the 1st Team High School Football team. When he graduated from the 8th grade, he was his class's Valedictorian. Duane was a natural outdoorsman and enjoyed all things "outside." He loved to participate in Rodeos and did quite well in them. Throughout his life, Duane was kind-hearted and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Above all else, Duane enjoyed being a "full-time" dad to his son, Dylan. Duane is survived by his: mother, Kathlyn (Rudy, Sr.) Walker; father, Vino Burnette, Sr., (Bernadine Pope); 4 brothers: Vino Burnette, Jr., Teddy Burnette, Valentino Burnette, Justin Walker; 6 sisters: Michelle Burnette, Cheryl Taylor, Stephanie Burnette, Vanessa Burnette, Wylene Kee, Vina Burnette; 2 children: Dylan Burnette, Marcus Henry; and by his companion, RexAnna Aday. Duane is preceded in death by: a brother, Manuel Little; daughter, Jalyn Burnette; uncle, Abel Burnette, Sr.; grandparents: Fannie Burnette, Theodore Burnette and Dorinda Ethelbah. A two-night wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 2710 Roadrunner Street, Ft. Apache, Arizona. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Seven Mile Miracle Church. Burial will be in the Mission View Cemetery in East Fork, Arizona.
