Francis Quay, Sr., of Whiteriver, Arizona went to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Sierra Blanca Rehabilitation Center in Lakeside, Arizona. He was 85. Francis was born April 25, 1925 in Cibecue, Arizona to the late Richard and Marie (Rope) Quay. The youngest of 6 children, Francis was raised in Cibecue, and attended the Theodore Roosevelt School. He was a pioneer member of the Lower Cibecue Lutheran Church, a little adobe church with humble beginnings. Francis was very faithful who was known to always pray. He was a member of the Open Bible Lutheran Church in Whiteriver where he attended regularly. A long-time Cowboy, he loved being on a horse. He respected animals and people very much and instilled these values to his children and grandchildren. He raised his family on range pay and taught his family to appreciate the outdoors and all it has to offer. He had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with his family and friends. An avid outdoorsman he loved to hunt and fish. He especially enjoyed dancing and was often the first seen on the dance floor. He enjoyed all types of dancing whether traditional or country/western. Francis is survived by his children, Denver Quay, Ann (Nawsee) Skidmore, Loretta (Floyd) Goklish, Margaret Quay, Theda (Gerald, Sr.) Nosie, Karen Quay (Troy Henry), Francis Quay and Cynthia Altaha; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. A one night wake will begin 9:00AM Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the Quay residence, 105 N. Willow St., Whiteriver, Arizona. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Open Bible Lutheran Church with the interment to follow in the Cooley Mountain Cemetery.
