Judith Ann Massey of Show Low, Arizona died late Friday morning, January 7, 2011 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona following a sudden illness. She was 70 years old. Judy was born on October 16, 1940 in Columbus, Bartholomew County, Indiana to the late Walter Rigney and Nellie Mae (Baldwin) Burton. Throughout her working career, Judy worked as a field worker for A.P.S. (Arizona Public Service) for 28 years and made many friends throughout her long employment with them. Prior to her employment with A.P.S., Judy worked for the State of Arizona as one of its clerks. Judy was a simple person and appreciated the simple things that life had to offer. She loved curling up in her comfy chair or couch to read a good book. She read all types of books, and many of them she read more than once. Judy moved to Arizona in January of 1959 and truly found Arizona to be a beautiful place to live. Many years, she and her family would go spend several weeks during the summer months at a cabin at Hawley Lake. There she was able to relax and simply take in all the beautiful creations around her. Hawley Lake brought her much peace and solace over the years. Judy is survived by her 2 children: Bryan Massey of Show Low, Arizona, Laurie Ann Berg (Lyle) of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Amanda Massey of Phoenix, Arizona, Eddie Berg of Phoenix, Arizona, Bryan Massey of Show Low, Arizona, Lauren Massey of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 great-grandchildren: Cruz Ramirez-Massey, Abel Ramirez-Massey, Leighla Ramirez-Massey and by 1 brother, Tim DeSpain (Brenda) of Phoenix, Arizona. Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Burton; a sister, Sharon McCain and by a son, Eric Massey A private family memorial service will be held for Judy's family.
