James Gordon Richmond

December 14, 1946 — December 28, 2010

Jim passed away on December 28, 2010 at his home in Lakeside, Arizona. Jim was born in Eugene, Oregon on December 12, 1946 to Evelyn and James Gould Richmond and grew up in Medford, Oregon. Jim has had many roles in his 64 years including teacher at Northland Pioneer College and Blue Ridge High School as well as in Oregon, Dean of Technology at NPC, grant writer for Winslow Arizona, NPC, and the several of the Arizona tribes (bringing millions of dollars to each), musician in the Palace Meat Market (who once opened for the Grateful Dead), dedicated fan to the Oregon Ducks, and On-Call Carpenter for the Oregon Country Fair. In his last few years of life, Jim donated several thousand dollars to the Evelyn Richmond Blueberry Hill Scholarship Fund, Project Rytmo, Culture Jam, and Blue Ridge Wrestling Club. His greatest legacy, however, is the loving family he left behind. Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sorenson, and their four children, James J. Richmond, Jasmine Wightman, Travis Sorenson, and Amber Gardner. Jim is also survived by his 5.5 grandchildren: Tyler, Chase, and Gage "Chubby" Sorenson, Kolton and Kaylee Gardner, and William James Wightman (due in March 2011). He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and "Mickey" Richmond, and his nephew, Jarrod Sorenson. An open house/pot luck will be held on January 2nd at 11:00am-2:00pm at the home of Jim Richmond and Bonnie Sorenson. Donations in Jim's name may be made to the Blue Ridge Wrestling Club. Please contact Amber Gardner at (928) 242-5970 for more information.
