While attending school in Cibecue, he took first place in its spelling bee. He then went on to compete in the Navajo County spelling bee and did a great job there as well. Aurelio loved reading. He frequently could be found curled up reading a good book. He was brilliant. He was known for his kind heart and was willing to do anything for anybody. He, too, will always be remembered fo his quiet polite ways and the great respect that he had for others. Aurelio enjoyed life to the fullest. He found great joy with the simple things in life. Aurelio loved playing basketball and would spend countless hours improving his basketball skills. As a little boy, he was taught to respect the beauty of God's creations. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and could frequently be found fishing at one of the many lakes of the White Mountains. His favorite lake to fish at was Horseshoe Lake. Aurelio was also a gifted musician and taught himself how to play the guitar as well as the piano. He could play his music by ear and never took a formal music lesson. The music he played was beautiful. Aurelio also had a special place in his heart for animals; especially his pets. He loved his dogs Simba, a chow, and Phantom, a pit bull puppy. Simba died just 3 weeks ago and Aurelio mourned him deeply. His family takes comfort in the fact that Simba and Aurelio are reuninted and enjoying each others companionship again. Aurelio was a tremendous support to all of his family and he truly loved to be around them. He considered his brothers and sister to be some of his best friends.
