James Leamon Brooks, of Holbrook, Arizona passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Carriage House in Snowflake, Arizona. He was 87. James was born August 3, 1923 to the late Jack and Lulamae (Brown) Brooks. Jim was a rancher most of his life but was employed for the United States Forest Service for 20 years. While with the Forest Service Jim served at the Apache Maide lookout tower by Stoneman Lake in Camp Verde. He lived in Camp Verde for 20 years before recently moving to Holbrook before his passing. He is survived by his sons, Jack Brooks and wife Martha of Holbrook and Jim Brooks of Young; grandchildren, Timalee Guetterman and husband Chad of North Carolina, Travis Brooks and wife Melissa of Phoenix, Trenton Brooks of Holbrook and Reid Brooks of Camp Verde; 3 1/2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen. Private family services are planned.
