Claudia Rose Alina Lukus Bowers

Claudia Rose Alina Lukus Bowers, of Snowflake, formerly of Eagar, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010 at her residence in Snowflake. She was 72. Claudia was born, Rose Alina Lukus, on January 10, 1938 in Flagstaff, Arizona to John and Alina (Hyrsky) Lukus and raised as Claudia Bowers by Carl and Thelma Bowers. A life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was active in many church positions and had the opportunity to serve a mission in Finland. She was a school teacher for the Kingman Unified School District for many years before moving to Eagar, Arizona where she taught the 5th grade for 20 years. Considered by her family as the "Greatest Aunt of All", she loved to travel and spend time with them. She was good at dancing and rather than saying "thank you" she would always say "I will dance a jig at your wedding." A loving sister, aunt and friend she will be missed by all. She is survived by her sisters, Ruth Graves of Texas, Jeanette Wiltbank (Walter) of Snowflake, Arizona; brother, Rodney Carl Bowers (Sandra) of Mesa, Arizona as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her biological parents, John and Alina Lukus; family parents, Carl and Thelma Bowers as well as 4 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Eagar Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 135 N. Main St., Eagar, Arizona with a viewing one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be held 11:00AM Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Rose Hills Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3888 S. Workman MI. Rd., Whittier, California. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Round Valley Middle School, P.O. Box 610, Springerville, Arizona 85938.
