Earl Maurice Sivesind, of Clay Springs, passed away August 26, 2010 at his home. He was 79. Earl was born January 5, 1931 in Decorah, Iowa to the late Paul Olaf and Hazel (Melberg) Sivesind. Earl honorably served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged in August of 1953. He was very proud of his service and talked about it often. Following his military career, he met and fell in love with Beverly Lou Wilcox and they were married in September of 1954 in The Little Brown Church of the Vale in Iowa. They shared 51 years of marriage before her passing in March of 2006. Earl was employed for Rockwell International, formally Rocketdyne, in Canoga Park, CA where he had the honor of working on the Apollo Spacecraft thoughout the entire mission. He retired in 1989 and he and his, Beverly, moved to Clay Springs, Arizona where they began to enjoy his retirement. He was very proud of his Norwegian Heritage and was well known for making Lefsa. He loved his family very much and was proud to be a grandpa. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was his favorite pastime. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, he will be missed by all. Earl is survived by his daughter, MaryLou Harrington (Dell) of Chandler, Arizona; sons, David Sivesind, Sr. (Katie Padilla) of Clay Springs, Arizona, Jeff Sivesind (Danette) of California; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Grace Peterson (Robert) of Decorah, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Owens Livingston Mortuary~White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St., Show Low. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the First Baptist Church, 700 N Central, Show Low. Concluding services will be private.
