Gilbert Raymond Pacheco

March 28, 1961 — July 19, 2010

Gilbert Raymond Pacheco died late Monday afternoon, July 19, 2010 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona following a lengthy illness. He was 49 years old. Gilbert was born to the late Esteven and Esther (Romero), who died in 1998 and 1995 respectively, on March 28, 1961 in McNary, Navajo County, Arizona. He was a 1979 graduate of Blue Ridge High School in Lakeside, Arizona and was very involved with its sports program. He excelled in wrestling and was quite active on the football team. Gilbert has lived his entire life in the White Mountain area and truly appreciated the beauty of the area. He loved being in nature. He thoroughly enjoyed elk hunting, fishing, playing all types of sports, including softball. He also enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. As a younger man, Gilbert worked as a meat cutter for Eddie's Country Market in Pinetop. He also worked for Mega Foods as a store manager and was responsible for opening and setting up new stores. Most recently, Gilbert was employed by Wal-Mart, where he too, worked as a retail and cost manager and, had some responsibilities in its security department. He married Elaine Faye Tostado, of Holbrook, Arizona on October 1, 1988 in Show Low. They most recently celebrated their 21st wedding anniversary together. Gilbert was a loving father to his children and, one by one as they were able, he enjoyed the privilege of teaching them how to drive. Those were some very special moments in his life and each and everyone of them has proven themselves to be responsible drivers. Gilbert was a great life-long friend to many. They too, will miss his kindness and friendship. Gilbert is survived by: his wife, Elaine Pacheco of Lakeside, Arizona; 4 children: Misti Pacheco of Lakeside, Arizona, Nathaniel Pacheco of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho, Ashley Pacheco of Phoenix, Arizona, Ariell Pacheco of Lakeside, Arizona; 1 sister, Isabel "Liz" (Rick) Rankin; 3 brothers: Chris Pacheco of Bagdad, Arizona, Patrick (Kandi) Pacheco of Lakeside, Arizona and Eugene (Renee) Pacheco of Coeur D' Alene, Idaho. In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Lawrence Pacheco and Steve Pacheco. The Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:30 P.M., Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 1400 E. Owens in Show Low, Arizona. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 30, 2010 at St. Rita's Catholic Church. The concluding service and graveside blessing will immediately follow at the Lakeside Cemetery. Following the services, his family warmly invites those who would like to bring a dish, to a special "Potluck" reception back at St. Rita's Social Hall.
