Mary-Jane Bond, of Tucson, Arizona, died Friday morning, July 16, 2010 at her summer home in Pinetop, Arizona from causes incident to her age. Her loving husband, Gayle was by her side. She was 87 years old. Mary-Jane was born in Rockville, Tolland County, Connecticut on February 8, 1923 to the late David and Betty (Baldwin) Keeney. During WWII, Mary-Jane was proud of her American heritage and as WAC in the U.S. Army. She later went on to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education. With her degree, Mary-Jane had a long and successful career as a school teacher. She moved to Arizona about 17 years ago. She thoroughly enjoyed the diverse climate of the state. This sweet lady will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Mary-Jane is survived by: her husband, Gayle W. Bond of Tucson, Arizona; daughter: Rachel (Flip) Torpey of Connecticut; sister: Sarah (Allen) Richardson of Maryland; brother: Jim (Dina Yessne) Keeney of Vermont and, along with her parents, was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Keeney. Private family services will be held at a later date.
