Johnny "J.T." Tafoya died Thursday, June, 10, 2010 at his home in Holbrook, Arizona following a lengthy illness. He was 63 years old. J.T. was born on January 30, 1947 in Holbrook, Arizona to the late Manuel Tafoya and Genevieve (Velasquez) Tafoya. After completing high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Army Signal Corps during the Vietnam War. J.T. was a hard worker and was very skilled working with his hands. He was a carpenter by trade and those with whom he worked always enjoyed his company. J.T. loved being in the great out-of-doors and, whenever possible, he went camping. J.T. was a good father, son, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. He is survived by: his mother, Genevieve Tafoya of Holbrook, Arizona; 3 sons: Sean Tafoya (Mary) of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeremy Tafoya of Battle Creek, Michigan; Jesse Tafoya of Battle Creek, Michigan; 2 brothers: Manuel Tafoya, Jr. (Patsy) of Tucson, Peter Tafoya (Teri) of Holbrook, Arizona; 2 sisters: Rosemary Tafoya of Show Low, Arizona, Deborah Tafoya of Phoenix, Arizona; 6 grandchildren: Tristan, Shanelle, Joseph, Sean Michael, Jack, Colin and Alexia. The visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., Monday, June 14, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 Arizona Street in Holbrook, Arizona. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Monday and, the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will begin promptly at 11:00 A.M., at the church. The concluding committal service and interment will follow at the Holbrook Cemetery.
