Tracy Ann Hoffman

Tracy Ann Hoffman of Holbrook, AZ. died on Friday, May 28, 2010, as a result of a traffic accident just a few miles south of the Indian Wells Elementary School where she taught first grade. Tracy was born December 15, 1962 at Altus, AFB Okla. She is survived by her parents Ralph B. and Laura A. (Beard) Hoffman of Centerburg, Ohio, her sister Nancy E. Hoffman of Westerville, Ohio and her paternal grandmother Martha M. Hoffman of Washington C. H., Ohio. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents Ralph D. and Ann K. Beard, and her paternal grandfather Henry Tracy Hoffman. Tracy grew up in central Ohio and graduated from Westerville South High School in 1980. In high school she played in the marching band, jazz band and was a member of Thespians. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Ohio University (cum laude) in 1985 and a Masters in Educational Design degree from Arizona State University in 1990. She taught in Ecuador, Kuwait, Ohio, and in AZ, Jeddito Public Schools and Holbrook Unified School District. Tracy never had children but loved her students as if they were her own. Her students were the light of her life. In college she received Regent's Scholarships, Edna Copeland Academic Scholarship, and the Manassa Cutler Academic Scholarship. She was a member of Mortar Board (Senior National Honorary), Kappa Delta Gamma (Education Honorary), Rho Lambda (leadership recognition), Alpha Gamma Delta (social sorority) and the Ohio University Student Alumni Board. After graduation, she traveled extensively throughout the world teaching and sight seeing. Favorite places included Nepal, Thailand, Peru, Sweden, and England. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, computers, art, music, her many pets, particularly her infamous Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. She disliked cruelty in any form but particularly to children or animals. Tracy's family wishes to express their appreciation to Tracy's many friends who have shown so much love and support of Tracy both in life and death. Tracy came to northern Arizona for employment but found a life. She fell in love with a state, an area, a community, and the many wonderful people who live here. She loved northern Arizona, and her family feels so very fortunate that she shared her life and friends with us. Owens-Livingston Mortuary of Show Low, AZ (www.owensmortuary.com) is serving the family. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 12, at the Heward House, 108 Crestview Dr., Holbrook, AZ. There will be a short program beginning at 11:00am, followed by open house until 4:00pm.
