Zona Carol Weddle of Pinetop, Arizona passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona. She was 71 years old. Zona was born on August 27, 1938 in Alta Loma, San Bernardino County, California to the late John W. and Mary (Flowers) Bowman and moved to Arizona as a baby. She grew up in the Gila Valley, being raised in Safford, Arizona. At the tender age of 20, Zona met the love of her life, Thomas B. Weddle. The lovebirds were married on April 18, 1959. He preceded her in death in November of 2009. They celebrated more than 50 years of true happiness together. Shortly after their marriage, Zona and Thomas moved to San Manuel, Arizona where Thomas mined for the Magma Copper Company. Zona was a devoted homemaker to her family throughout her blessed life. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time caring for the needs of each member of her ever-growing family. Together they raised 4 beautiful children. In addition to seeing to the needs of her family, Zona was also able to appreciate the beauty of the Great-out-of-Doors. She loved being outside! She thoroughly enjoyed fishing at a quiet lake. Zona was also very talented with her hands. She could sew just about anything and could cook gourmet foods for an army. She would also keep herself busy with other handicrafts. Zona enjoyed every moment that her family would gather for holidays, visits or picnics. Her grandchildren truly brought a special gleam to her eyes. Zona was a gentle soul who cared about children and always helped others whenever she could. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and loved her. Zona is survived by her 4 children: Pamela K. Large of Pinetop, Arizona, Thelma (Jeff) Jackson of Kentucky, Wesley (Cynde) Weddle of Pinetop, Arizona, Martha (Tim) Vandemark of Show Low, Arizona; 8 grandchildren: Kimberly Large of Greenville, South Carolina, James Large of Florence, Arizona, Christopher (Sydnie) Weddle of Pinetop, Arizona, Candace Large of Show Low, Arizona, Jeremiah Adams of Lakeside, Arizona, Kayla (Justin) Goss of Globe, Arizona, Timothy (Kelsey) Vandemark of Star, Idaho, Bryon (Megan) Adams of Kentucky; 11 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Weddle, Deidre Mann, Serenity Mann, Trentin Goss, Bowen Weddle, Kaiden Goss, Randall Godfrey, Brittany Godfrey, Ryan Fowler, Nicholas Large and Anna Bella Large.
