Amy Lynn Abt, of Pinetop, AZ passed away April 21, 2010 in Show Low, AZ. She was 54 years old. Amy was born June 24, 1955 in Hollywood, CA. to Edward and Norma (Tuohi) Abt. Amy achieved her Medical Doctorate in 1983 from the University of California Irvine, California College of Medicine and became a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist. She practiced form 1987-1996. She moved to the White Mountains in 1998 with her family. She brought many lives into the world as an OB/GYN and saved many mothers lives in her practice. She lived a difficult last 5 years and endured more than any human should, just for the simple love of being with her children, husband and her many friends in the White Mountains. She was released from her suffering body to be able to walk, eat and be with her dogs, family and friends that have passed before her. May she walk in beauty and grace until joined by her loving family. She sends her love and gratefulness to the nurses, caretakers, doctors and friends that kept her able to be with her family. She is survived by her husband Dr. Steven Washburn, Pinetop, AZ., sons Dillon and Jake Washburn, parents Edward and Norma Abt, Vista CA., brothers Eddie Abt, Vista, CA., John (Darlene) Abt, Nevada City, CA., Dean ( Tracey) Abt, Oakland, CA., and Alan (Monicque) Abt, Auburn, CA.. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Gathering Place, 4756 Bucksprings Road, Pinetop, Arizona. In lieu of flowers a contribution in her name can be made to the Safe House, Nature Conservancy or Doctors without Borders.
