William Clifton Pugh, of Overgaard, entered eternal rest, Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Show Low. He was 87. Bill was born August 15, 1922 in Nashville, TN to the late Robert and Christin (Brooks) Pugh. On January 16, 1943 Bill entered active duty for the United States Navy serving during WWII and was stationed in Brazil. After 3 years of dedicated service Bill was honorably discharged. On March 13, 1948 he married the love of his life, Thelma Beckwith, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his passing. He was employed as a building engineer for the Mountain Bell (now US Quest) telephone company where he retired. Bill loved to golf; so much that he had to move closer to the golf course so he could ride his golf cart from his home to the course. He also loved to fish. Many of those who knew him, knew him as "Bluegill Bill". He is now fishing the heavenly waters with long time fishing buddy "Catfish John". Bill is survived by his wife, Thelma Pugh of Overgaard, AZ; 3 daughters, Nancy Waller of Sun City, AZ, Carol Bingham (Jim) of Phoenix, AZ, Billy Jean Pugh of New River, AZ; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 1 brother and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held 12:30 P.M. Friday April 2, 2010 at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cavecreek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
