Richard Melvin Young

Richard Melvin Young, affectionately known as "Animal", of Sun Valley, Arizona died suddenly on Sunday, September 7, 2008. He was 57 years old. Richard was born on July 12, 1951 to Melvin Louis and Helen Rosalee Barbara (Tebbe) Groth in Oaks, North Dakota. He moved to Arizona 42 years ago from his native North Dakota and worked as a devoted firefigher for the Sun Valley Fire Department. Richard was a good hearted person who was always helping others, he was loved by all and had friends everywhere. He served in the United States Military. He was a great mechanic, poet, writer and a lover of animals. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Louise (Beyer) Young of Overgarrd, Arizona; sister, Kathryne Louise (Joseph) Torres; as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday September 27, 2008 at the Sun Valley Fire Department #1, 8611 N. 5th Street, Sun Valley, AZ, with a pot luck dinner immediately following the services.
