Charles Edward Young

Charles Edward "Charlie" Young died Thursday evening, July 30, 2009 at Summit HealthCare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona following a lengthy illness He was 59 years old. Charlie was born on May 16, 1950 in Tampa, Florida to the late Fred Lewis and Iris Perry (Cone) Young. He graduated from King High School in Tampa, Florida in 1968. A few years later, Charlie enlisted in The United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was inducted in to the army on February 19, 1970 and was honorably discharged on February 18, 1976. On March 22, 1986 he married Sylvia Scott in San Mateo, Florida and, unfortunately, their marriage later ended in divorce. On December 13, 1995 he married Deborah Joan Toth in Snowflake, Arizona. As a young man, Charlie worked as an iron worker for several years in Kissimmee, Florida at the Epcot Center and MGM Studios there. After moving to Arizona 20 years ago, he began working at Snowflake's Paper Mill where he spent countless hours as a millwright. Charlie loved being outside where some of his greatest joys were spent on the golf course. He excelled in golf and many called him an expert player. He also enjoyed hunting in the great out-of-doors with his family and his hunting buddies. This kind hearted man will be missed by all who knew him and grew to call him "friend". Non, however, will miss him more than his family. Charlie is survived by: his wife, Deborah Joan "Debbie" Young of Snowflake, Arizona; 4 children: Rebecca Detamore of Jane Lew, West Virginia, Ashley Buccholz (Jeramie) of Show Low, Arizona, Timothy Michael Toth of Hoover, Alabama, Lauren Elizabeth Thomas (Christopher) of Palatka, Florida; sister Louanna King (Dan) of Winterhaven, Florida; 2 nieces: Kelley Murrow (Tim) of Tampa, Florida, Jennifer King of Winterhaven, Florida; 2 nephews: Kevin Young (Kristina) of Gainesville, Florida, Brian King of Winterhaven, Florida; and his former wife, Sylvia Young of Palatka, Florida. He was preceded in death by: his father, Fred Young on July 30, 1961; his mother, Iris Cone Young on January 28, 1996 and his brother, James Young in 1997. The public visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Owens Livingston Mortuary - Heritage Chapel, 84 E. 19th South in Snowflake. The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 7, 2009 at Valley View Baptist Church, 1212 W. Main Street in Snowflake, Arizona where Pastor Bob Seymour will officiate. Military honors will immediately follow the service at the church. Memorial contributions in his name have been suggested to St. Jude's Children Hospital Cancer Research Department have been suggested by his family.
