Samuel Yellowhair, Sr., of Snowflake, passed away surrounded by his loving family, April, 24, 2009 at the Hospice Compassus In-Patient Unit in Lakeside. He was 71. Samuel was born December 2, 1937 in Jeddito, AZ to the late Sam and Helen (Begay) Yellowhair. He enlisted in the National Guard at the age of 17 in Oklahoma. Samuel was a compassionate, caring man who enjoyed traveling with his family. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend he will be missed by many. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Yellowhair of Snowflake; daughters, Carol Yellowhair, Carolyn Yazzie both of Snowflake; sons, Samuel Yellowhair, Jr. of Snowflake, Samson (Lavonne) Yellowhair of Taylor, Shondell (Michelle) Yellowhair of Snowflake; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Daniel Yellowhair of Jeddito and Leroy (Teresa) Yellowhair of Whitecone; sisters, Pauline Huston of Sanders, Helena Y. Carl of Jeddito as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Genevie Pete and brother, Jeffrey Yellowhair. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Snowflake 10th Ward, Temple View Chapel Building, 2885 W. Hwy 277, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Snowflake. Visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake, AZ.
